Hey Guys, Lara here. I hope you all are well. In my last few posts I mentioned how January was such a long month. I honestly felt exhausted by the time it came to an end. So you can imagine how psyched Lamic and I were to head over to Le Petit Village Boutique Hotel for a short stay-cation to start this month off. Le Petit Village is a lovely little boutique hotel located in Nsambya, just a stone’s throw from Kampala’s city center… I know what you’re thinking… Nsambya? But believe me, Le Petit Village has managed to create a little oasis in the middle of all the crazy of Kampala, which makes it the perfect place for a little getaway if you can’t leave town, or the perfect place to stay if you are coming into Kampala for a visit, you get the feeling that you are on holiday without having to drive more than 1 hour from any residential area in Kampala which is pretty much a dream to say the least. So here’s a rundown on what we were up to during our stay. First up, hit play on the little vlog we put together on our stay, and then read all about the experience below!
It’s great that we didn’t have to go out of Kampala to go on a little holiday. Le Petit Village is quite accessible from the city centre so getting there is super simple, and its proximity to Kampala City removes the cost and hustle of transportation if you want a short holiday.
Le Petit Village is truly a little piece of paradise. The hotel itself is covered with beautiful trees and flowers, landscaped to give you a forest feel making you question again and again whether you really are right in the middle of Kampala. The hotel is small and cozy with only 12 rooms on the property; we stayed in junior suites, which were spacious rooms with private terraces that will make you feel like staying in bed or on the terrace all day long. Our rooms interior were a combination of African and European design, creating a beautifully executed Afro-chic aesthetic. Oh and you got to love the vintage feel of a claw-foot bathtub, which I had personally planned to jump into once I got there but for some reason I didn’t…so definitely coming back for that.
During our stay at Le Petit Village, we had our meals from both the Le Chateau Restaurant and the La Patisserie Pastry Shop. The Le Chateau Restaurant is a gourmet dining restaurant that was recently revamped, so we got to experience the great new menu from Chef Paul for both our dinners and lunch. I had the same thing twice for dinner (a delicious creamy chicken dish) that I fell in love with, so much so my adventurous side completely disappeared. The dessert was heavenly as well, Lamic’s favorite part as usual. For breakfast, we were spoiled for choice by the options in the La Patisserie pastry shop, on the first day we ordered room service because what is better that BREAKFAST IN BED!! These guys make a mean Belgian Waffle, which was definitely my favorite, and their cheese tarts are pretty great as well.
We are super grateful to the Le Petit Village team for making us feel super comfortable during our stay, and I would definitely highly recommend this place to anyone that wants to relax without leaving town, or just wants a super peaceful place to stay when you are in Kampala.
Have you ever been to Le Petit Village? Let me know what you think of the place.
